As most of you know, Sugar Baby was traveling with us as her daddy Ed was in hospice and the outcome was not promising at the time.
She had been staying with some other family’s at the park and was getting shuffled around too much. We took her in and then left for our trip. She has been a wonderful companion and we got almost all of her health problems resolved.
While driving through Cheyenne WY the other day, which is where Ed’s ex wife lives, he called us and requested that we leave Sugar Baby with his ex. All of us, but especially Byron were sorry to see her go, as she had become a true member of our little zoo. But we know that she will be happy.
To make up the difference, as we have found that Ivy works better with a friend who isn’t a crazy feline like Triangle, we have adopted a basset hound named Hookah. She is a tri-color sweetheart who we all love and adore. We adopted her from the Larimer Humane Society in Fort Collins CO, so we had to drive almost 3 hours to get out of WY and down to her. But it was worth the trip! We got to the shelter and they took us to a visiting room and brought her in and she just stole all of our hearts. I will attempt to post pictures soon, but I may not get around to it before we get busy with the Escapade.
Now, that was the dogs and most of the driving, on to the ducks! Will and Jumper(as Byron and I have named them) are growing faster than seems possible! We weigh them every day we can and the growth difference has been up to a half a ounce overnight. That’s a lot! I will also get photos of these fluff balls when I can.
As for the rest of the driving, we are doing that as I type this post. We are going 200 miles today up to Buffalo WY and then tomorrow to Gillette WY for the Escapade.

I was standing just outside our trailer talking to one of my best friends when I saw it: there was a little duckling sitting under our trailer!!! I ran and got Mom and Dad and we caught it, then we went over to Clear Creek to see if we could find a parent duck. Instead we found and caught a second duckling! We were unsuccessful at finding any adult ducks…so…we are going to keep and raise them ’till we can release them into the wild!!!
I will post more another time, as it is getting late here, but don’t fear! I will post pictures of our adorable new friends as soon as I can!

This is just a little experiment that I wanted to try…
The whole day that we had been driving, before I recorded this video with my camera, I had been having pretty bad dredful allergys. So Mom bought me an energy drink(and for those of you who don’t know, energy drinks are just about 90% caffeine) to help counter the allergy pills. Well, a word of warning to all: unless you want your ear talked off by an energetic chipmunk(me), do not give me energy drinks! I felt much better, if a little buzzed, so when we got parked I hopped out of the car and started taking pictures of every thing! And then I remembered the movie setting on my camera and, well, you know the rest.
(Note: You may have trouble haring what I am saying, and I apologize for the wind in the video, it was incredibly gusty that day.)
And here is the link to watch the video! :

We got to the Golden, CO city RV park Sunday afternoon, and though we had a bit of trouble pulling in at first, we got in just fine in the end.
The park is right next to Clear Creek and there is a fabulous walking path that follows the creek for miles! Every day we take a walk down to Main St. and stroll through the city of Golden. We have been amazed at just how many people use the path; whether on bikes, skateboards, scooters, roller blades, or on foot with strollers and dogs! The creek has plenty of traffic as well, it is populated by thrill seekers in kayaks, inner tubes, and special boogie-boards.
We all love to watch as the kayakers, in their short river kayaks, practice in the fiercely fast and cold water. Even Sugar Baby joins in the fun by wading in the shallows of the creek!
Back to Golden: it is the most wonderful little town! (well, maybe not exactly little, the Coors brewery is within walking distance.) There are many fun statues scattered along the path and throughout the streets of the city. There are giant fish
and butterflys, little cow girls and boys, a group of singers and musicians
,
and even a mighty dragon!

I like the “Series of Unfortunate Events” books! It feels like I have read more than four books this week…they are just so cool!!! We own the whole series, but I can’t find them all, so I have been reading them sorta out of order and all at the same time. Everybody says that they find them too gloomy and sad, but I’m not bothered at all! I guess that I am just the kind of person who can tolerate all the misery.

We have been moving right a long since we left Livingston on Mother’s Day. We had hoped to start a little earlier in May, but it just didn’t work out! We have been enjoying several days in Trinidad, Colorado, just North of the boarded of New Mexico. We are camping right on Trinidad Lake with terrific views across the lake of a Mesa, and off in the distance are the snow capped Rocky’s. VERY COOL!
We are catching up on school work and “Etsy” work…and here is a shot of me doing one of my 3 Etsy jobs-listing jewelry! BTW, my other 2 jobs are photographing/editing the photos and best of all WEARING the jewelry! We test out all our new designs and materials and if we like it, we don’t sell it on Etsy. If we LOVE it, THEN we make another and get it in que for pictures and listing.
We decided to stay here through the weekend after we saw a poster this morning announcing a demonstration of a Cobb, or mud oven on Saturday night. We started to make one of these 2 years ago so we are anxious to see a finished one in action!

I am really sorry that I haven’t been able to get y’all up to speed…we just kept on getting side-tracked every time we tried to remember to post!
We had a ton of fun at the base of the Palo Duro Canyon, we even went on two 6 mile hikes! The first was up to the Lighthouse, the most famous natural landmark at Palo Duro Canyon. The second was a completely different hike that wended its way near the river and the park road. Funny thing…we had a stunning site that was very easy to back into, there was an awesome rock right nearby, and the most amazing view ever! But, it was ALL the way at the end of the park, pretty much as far as you could take a trailer! I tried to get some cool pix of Dad driving down in the RV…
So, anyways, we have entered(and are actually about to exit) a new state! We got to the New Mexico KOA campground in Clayton on Saturday. We haven’t gotten around to putting the new sticker on our map though(surprise, surprise). We are driving into Colorado today, and in about a week, are going up to visit some relatives in the Denver area!
When Mom gets the chance to post, we will put up some of the other gorgeous pix that we took!

We had absolutely NO signal, internet or otherwise, at the base of the Palo Duro Canyon! We are just getting caught up with all of our things so I will put up a longer post telling of our adventures and all when we get to the next campground. It is hard to get it all up when we are driving, but you guys will only have to wait a little longer to see some of the stunning pictures we took!!!!

Yesterday we inflated our two new kayaks and headed out to the lake.
Mom, Byron, and I went out in the kayaks, dad decided that he would help us get the kayaks to and from the water. First of all, we found out that even inflatable kayaks are heavy. Second of all, we discovered(or maybe re-discovered) that Texas weather can change without a moments notice.
It started out sunny and calm as could be, but after we traded boats so we could try them both out, it got cloudy and the wind picked up badly. We all ended up getting blown over to the other side of the lake, and had to do a bit of hiking to get back to the road so dad could pick us up, but we all had fun anyways. There were lots of very lovely flowers
that we walked through, and when we went walking later we saw some prairie dogs!

I am so happy now!!! I finally figured out how to insert pictures into our blog posts! See, I’ll do it right now:

Pretty flower, huh? Anyways, I went through and added pictures to all of the posts that I could, so now our blog looks much nicer.
Right now we are driving to Wichita Falls, TX so I have the computer set up and connected to the internet, on my lap. Ivy decided at one point that she should be on my lap…well, I had to say no to that. My lap just isn’t big enough. (-=
The temp. outside, right this moment, is 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Uuuggh! That is much to hot for me! Lucky for me, we are heading farther north today, so it should be cooler.
